Electric Char Broilers
EmberGlo Electric Char Broilers feature raised cast iron ribs with recessed heating elements to evenly “char-brand” the meat’s surface with flame-free safety. We designed the grill to give you more useful square inches and broiling space than any other comparably sized electric broiler.
Expert Tip: A 10″ high splatter guard is available as an optional extra for all models

Q: How do I start up the EmberGlo electric char broiler for the first time?
- Please note that each grate is independent from the other grates.
- Turn the knob on from off position. Please note the Infinite Knob has numbers 1(LO)-7(HI) on them. The knob is adjustable at half and quarter settings as well. See the table below for approximate temperatures, preheat for 15 minutes, but you will start to feel the heat right away. Reminder these are approximate temperatures, you can test the real temperature with an Infrared thermometer.
Knob Setting | Approximate Temperature (°F) |
LO | 105 |
2 | 160 |
3 | 225 |
4 | 325 |
5 | 425 |
6 | 525 |
HI | 575 |
Q: Can the surface of my electric char broiler become TOO HOT for cooking?
A: Depending on the load of food being cooked, the desired temperature setting will change. As more food is added to the grill, it will have only a very temporary cooling effect. Always confirm your grills temperatures since the table above is approximate by double checking with a thermometer.
Q: Can my electric char broiler become physically TOO HOT?
A: It is important to use caution when using these char broiler units, there are going to be spots where the unit is always hot when in use. You can ensure the unit’s stainless-steel frame does not overheat by following the installation instructions & making sure there is 9” of clearance on all sides of the unit. Do not ever remove the legs the unit comes with; this will lead to voiding your warranty & greatly increasing the chance your unit will fail.
Q: What maintenance is necessary for my electric charbroiler?
A: The most important daily maintenance step is to keep the char broiler clean. It is important to follow the instructions in your manual to properly clean your broiler every night, excessive grease build up will cause your unit to run cooler & may lead to a fire.
